Dredges and Dredgers

A dredge or dredger is essentially the same type of equipment which is called differently depending on the person and location. Dredges are commonly called dredges in the Americas, whereas the word dredgers are most commonly used worldwide. These types of machines can be used for a variety of mining applications and dredging projects. There are a few types of hydraulic dredges that are manufactured and customized to aid in specialized dredging projects such as the Auger dredge, Cutterhead dredger, Plain-Suction dredge, Hopper dredger, Chain Ladder dredge, and Ladder pump dredger. Each of these types of hydraulic dredges is unique and has its advantages and disadvantages when it comes to dredging projects, because of different variables that could potentially hinder the dredging project.

For example, the location of the area where the dredging project is taking place. The dredge may not be feasible to dredge in the location because of its size. The dredger may not have the correct dredge parts equipped on the dredger to dredge the different types of materials or sediment. All of these brief factors are key components that could hinder the effectiveness and productivity of the dredger while also hindering the success of the dredging project and/or mining application, if a detailed dredge plan has not been correctly developed and implemented.

Dredgers can be used for a multitude of dredging projects including some of the following: Environmental remediation, land reclamation, marina construction, mining, beach restoration, irrigation, channel and canal maintenance, and dredging for sand and gravel, and for other types of materials such as gold and other precious metals.

Custom Dredge Works provides all of these types of dredgers, and different types of dredging equipment that can help improve the environment from natural disasters such as bad storms and hurricanes, which typically damages the environment. Using hydraulic dredges can assist in repairing the environment before and after a natural disaster strikes.
